Free Thinking PrisonersAs I walked along the street of Manchester I eventually passed the office of SCIENTOLOGY on Deansgate just close to the city center. The closer I got the louder the noise became. The noise was coming from a group of around 20 individuals that had placards, notices, flyers and boards saying all kind of negative things about SCIENTOLOGY. They also wore masks that you can see in the photo above to hide their faces. I stopped and said to them.‘Why are you demonstrating against Scientology?’One guy and more in unison replied ‘It’s a dangerous cult’I asked them why it was dangerous?They replied, ‘it’s dangerous because they brainwash people’I asked them why it’s a cult? They replied, ‘everyone knows it’s a cult”I said to them who are you guys?They told me they are FREE THINKERS AND FREE SPIRITS I smiled, said goodbye and walked away thinking about what had taken place and the logic of it from the FREE THINKERS perspective and the reality of what was taking place. To make an assessment or valid statement on anything say like in a court you are known as a witness. To be called and give testimony as a witness you must have provable and valid evidence. If you fail to give that evidence you will not only be thrown out of court but possible prison sentence if you tell a lie! The only way you can get that valid evidence is by studying, collecting and then making a decision on what you have actually seen or read. It quickly became clear that no of whom I had spoken to had done that outside the office of SCIENTOLOGY. It also raised the question of what is a CULT? I thought about the origin of the word. It comes from the word cultivate but in a positive sense. I had spent time reading Scientology books along with many other religious and so called CULT books for years.Frankly, although there are things I never agreed with there was also many things I agreed with. And of course I had never seen any force of belief in their teachings just a simple do it or don’t do it. That was my own conclusion as I studied and read those books. Yet these guys shouting, screaming, blowing horns and handing out negative flyers had told me they were free thinkers and free spirits yet their actions had clearly shown them to be enslaved to an unnamed organization. They dressed the same; they wore the same masks – why would you hide your appearance if you were right? - Is this the appearance of a free thinker? I have met many real FREE thinkers and frankly they neither run in packs nor run in crowds. Their freedom comes from their ability to do their own thing, be their own thing and think for themselves. It appears the modern media feeds are igniting the old ways within the new ways.The 1917 revolution in Russia did the very same thing. They had the masses on the move to over come and topple the aged structured of society based on ultimate freedom yet they were to become greater slaves to the master of communism. Yet if you has asked the revolutionary man on the street he would have thought he was now fighting for freedom. These people are the same today. They are being fed the lie of free thought and freethinking whilst being enslaved to the masses. The masses never think for themselves yet they are convinced that they are. They do what others do and think like others think and rarely give thought to anything apart from the silent orders of the mass. Free thought is not an action of the masses on command it is the action of a person that feels the need to decide for him or herself without the feed of others. And FREE SPIRITS? Never had a group looked so enslaved by their predictable look, predictable actions, predictable placards and statements and of course their predictable globally a ccepted masks that of course are bought from eBay and created in slave shops all around the world! There can be no such thing as a FREE spirit in the true sense. A free spirit is built around the new cult of me-ism. This is the cult of self and self-obsession. I’m free cannot be a statement of actuality but is a sweeping statement of the moment. Free of what exactly? How can a person be free if they don’t know what they are free from? Protestors can claim freedom yet at the same time they might feel they are free from the bigger control yet they are still under the control of the masses ort the crowd. Their thoughts are absolutely tied into the teachings and thoughts of self-proclaimed teachers of dissent or revolution. Those teachings usually can be traced back to the bigger vision of the speaker of the original words rather than the NEW free thinker themselves.Do you really think those on the street above thought through everything, the teachings, the revolution and their own freedom? Words come very easily but words carry weight. To say you are a free thinker yet enslaved, to say you are a free spirit yet enslaved and both with no awareness of self.FREE THINKERS AND FREE SPIRITS are not and can never be part of the mass. Once part of the mass the freedom is lost.I carried on walking to my car and drove him with many thought going through my mind.Alan Forrest Smith
