The Age of The Spiritual Narcissi

Recently I watched the magician Dynamo on TV walking across the River Thames in London. I did say walking across it as in walking over the water. Just by the houses of parliament there was a small path down to the river itself. Dynamo had to climb over the gate to get down to the riverside. This one action itself attracted the attention of the public. Once on the riverside he did soothing that breaks every rule, everything law and everything we know about physics and the possible. He put out his right foot and stood on top of the water. His right foot was followed by his left foot and this also stood on top of the water. Gradually and to the already shocked crowds that were gathering and filming on their phones Dynamo the magician slowly walked right out into the middle of the river whilst defying all sense of logic and law. This was of course entertainment. Some say Dynamo is possessed by a demon. Other say he could be supported by angels. Others even say he simply has the ability  to walk on water itself. Dynamo himself does the classic holy stance with his arms outstretched just like a messianic messenger yet ... Dynamo says nothing, he simply walks away and makes no claims of anything. Yet the mental impression for some is that of a holy act. This is magic. In days where spirituality has never been so rejected whilst never being so sought after we have created a league of spiritual Narcissi. These are the ones that create the magic in front of the eyes of the people that are searching for magic or spiritual help and then ask for payment so they can also share that same magic. Once when I was asked to speak at a large gathering of people there was a woman on the stage that spoke about how anyone can change their life, change their business and change everything about them and who they are with her directions. Every now and then she would stop for a moment, look up to the sky above, hold her head in her hands and tell the large audience she was receiving a download from the spirit beings themselves and that download was angelic advice designed to help the people make money. After the download took place she would then say… “ I was downloading and now have new information for you” … and then of course would carry on. I watched the faces of the people watching. Some would hold their breath and say she was from heaven itself. Others would say is this magic. Others would say she is blessed by the spirits and they would show us all how to make money. Some would even say she is God also. Some just smiled and and you could tell they weren’t convinced of anything. At the end of her talk I watched her convince, connive, persuade, allure, seduce and finally call the people to action on the promise that the sisterhood and the brotherhood in heaven itself would make them all rich but only through her. She then went on to ask the people for payments of $50,000 to work with her and in return she would pass on the downloaded materials from the spirit beings and that that information would make them very rich She stood at the end of her talk with her arms outstretched just like dynamo, just like a messianic saviour of anyones financial situation. Lets question this. Money is man made creation and has it purpose in a written promise for a fair exchange. Money is also a transient thing that has no real reality apart from its very human function. Money has been proved time and time again to be a creator of pain. Money comes - money goes - money has no influence on happiness. Money has its source in consumption. Consumption is a want that cannot be satisfied. Consumption is the destroyer of mankind. Consumption is the consuming of stuff created by sellers that want more money. One of the first thing real spiritual people do is awaken to the reality that money is not where the root of happiness lies. Every great spiritual teacher made no claims to being tuned in and tapped up to any spiritual source - they simply became and remained who they truly were. The spiritual person set an example and never entered the realms of the worldly or gain of money to find themselves in fact quite the opposite they reduced and in some cases removed all of their man made belongings completely. So who are these spiritual Narcissi? Like in any drought or famine there will be those that will take advantage of the masses by selling foods or fake foods, drinks or even poisons for cash or the pursuit of riches. These ones use the web and social media more than ever to attract the masses into the temples to sell them a connection to something more. Their own significance will always take precedence over the greater good of the individual. They use every persuasion and every means of every kind feeding those that are dying of spiritual thirst whilst at the very same time taking as much as they can from the downtrodden and seekers of a better way. Yet at the same time in some quarters they will gain significance at a huge level from those that want part of the spiritual narcissi and will support them without asking any questions or questioning anything. If the powers and downloads and gifts of wealth and healing came from God or higher forces why would higher forces spend time and involvement in something that is man-made, manufactured by men and in most cases leads to the destruction of men? Interesting was the lady I watched persuade the many to pull out their credit cards in the large gathering where I was invited to speak told me excitedly that she had just sold 1.3 million in spiritual gifts to the audience. What was also interesting was her demands for cash-backs from failing to deliver the spiritual gifts to those that threw their credit cards to be swiped were so high it led her into bankruptcy and eventual divorce from her 3rd husband she had married not that long before this event and had used his cash to create the mythology of magic and wealth. Dynamo the magician does magic. When asked he simply says - it’s magic and walks away. The Spiritual Narcissi when asked they will tell a story that gives the asker the impression that they have special access to beings, to gifts to angels to God even and they and only they have permission to pass this information on to others. This of course increases their own significance in a spiritually starving world whilst a t the same time lining the pockets of the spiritual narcissi. Would higher beings bells their activities? Would God bless their activities? Would angels and beings be sent by god to get involved in money matters whilst raping the listeners of all their own wealth?
