Mother Nature vs Zoomanity's City

3 months ago I made my very first move into a city to live. The apartment is beautiful, large, high and has everything. The city is stimulating at a mental level, for a writer like myself it feeds my thinking and pushes my to see and think of in Zoomanity.Yesterday though as it was so sunny we took a day out into the country. I drove to a huge, huge park where there are big deer, lots of wildlife, acres of grass and many, many, many big trees, so big and old in fact, trees that have seen kings come and go, lived longer than any new idea, any new government, even the oldest man on Earth. I spread my blanket on the floor, lay back and look up at the skies and the huge branches of the trees. There is something in that moment when you let go of the World around and feel the environment as the environment begins to feel you. There's a moment where peace overtakes your mind, a calmness takes hold and you go back somewhere you know you should be. For some reason the moment reminded me of a moment in the movie 'Avatar' where the tribe went to the 'Tree of souls' where the connection of life forms took place. As interesting as the city is, as stimulating as the city is the day out had me asking lots of questions that put the mother nature in competition with Zoomanity's cities. The city is a creation of man himself. Built on dreams, built on creation, built on aspiration and want of more. The need to drive forward, to consume to feed the wanting mind and control the wanting man. The concrete cannot pulse like a beating heart, the lights are designed to hold back the night and merge into day, the cities only blood line are the tubes, trains, buses and roads that weave across its paths. The noise is not of mother earth but of mans earth,. Noise that demands or disturbs each individual into more want, more need, more drive to be part of Zoomanity's concrete creation. The city is for those that want to be fully involved in the dreams of the unreachable, future hopes and happiness, rarely based on now. Yet ... I love being in the city and experiencing first hand the life of a city. But I have to say; the city cannot compare to the loving nurturing of mother nature, how she holds each man like a child to her breast, protecting, feeding, uplifting, singing songs of silence from the core of earth itself. The birds, the squirrels, the deer, the trees, the grass, the big lake, the sunshine, the warm wind, the silence, all demands nothing, they all give everything. Nothing takes anything from me, no demands are made, they give, they share, mother earth feeds, nurtures those that belong to her. One step into the lake conjures up thoughts of magic in a moment. The fish, the sandy bottom, the water grasses, thoughts of being a child, thoughts of life itself. The huge oak tree, powerful, strong, standing in winds strong enough to blow down a house yet the tree faces the winds full on in a display of power and strength. Mother nature asks for nothing, she gives, heals and recovers the lost man.Zoomanity's cities ask for everything, make demands and take what they can. Whilst mother gives exactly what we need at anytime, Zoomanity's cities absorb us, distract us slowly taking away the heartbeat of natures man only to replace it with the heartbeat of the non-sleeping, non-dreaming, no-living dreams of the city. The fact is lots of us live in cities, yet we have to ask ourselves do we ever go home to creation and sit amongst the mother natures gifts? When a man needs healing what is better? Is it for him to face the stone walls of a room or sit in the parks and be at peace with creation? How about you? Are you a city dweller and forgotten how to be at one with nature? Have you forgotten how to unplug, walk out and avoid the night lights of the city? When's the last time you enjoyed silence?Whens the last time you sat on the grass and felt the wind on your face and your hair blow any which way it's directed? Go to nature, go to a park, go to the country, sit, think, unplug and absorb so you can really discover the balance between mother nature and the demands of zoomanitys cities.Just a thought, just a moment of reflection.
